Since the creation of the Agency’s environmental justice program in 1992, EPA understood the need to work with both federally recognized tribes and all other indigenous peoples to effectively provide for environmental and public health protection in Indian country and in areas of interest to tribes and other indigenous peoples. The challenges and issues that affect Indigenous people are also examined through a critical thinking lens with an emphasis on decolonization. The Indigenous Women’s Health Program at Tewa Women United utilizes an intersectional approach to Reproductive Justice. The Indigenous Justice Program supports young Aboriginal men and woman aged 14-18 who are at risk of engaging in the justice system. Our Justice Programs Include: Indigenous Courtwork Program (ICWP), Criminal Courtworkers, Family Courtworkers, and the Indigenous Community Justice Program (ICJP). Check out our Career Opportunities. The North Bay Aboriginal Community Justice Program will be administered from the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre and will work with Aboriginal offenders charged with a variety of criminal offences in an effort to address the root cause of a person’s criminal behaviour.
