Review of The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson

Those of you who enjoyed the movie Don’t Look Up last year, may be interested in a darker and more realistic view of the climate crisis. The Ministry for the Future is set in the near future, looking at the impact of climate change from multiple points of view although loosely focused on two central characters.

With the opening line, “It was getting hotter.”, you might think that the book will be a struggle to read. Despite the dystopian setting and the frequent grim descriptions of the impact of climate change, the book has an optimistic view of humanity and how we might just survive. Probably a better introduction to climate change than any number of non-fiction books.
