This is a short and easy to read introduction to gamification in business. It lays out the key elements and ideas required to introduce game thinking although it is sometimes a little short on real-life examples from business as opposed to those from online games.
The book discusses the importance of motivation, meaningful choices, structure and conflicts, including discussions of self-determination theory and the role of points, badges, and leaderboards as some of the basic elements of games. The last chapter on game elements is perhaps the most useful, outlining the use of dynamics, mechanics, and components and how they work at different levels within games.
Overall, this is a good primer in some of the key concepts of using game elements in other contexts.
